WHERE HAVE ALL THE PROJECTS GONE?
First, congratulations to two of our Chapter members who have successfully completed and
flown their homebuilt aircraft in the past year or so.
Bob Carlson's Zodiac 601 took to the air in the early summer and Bob flew off his restricted hours in a
very short time. he had moved his airplane from the Waddy strip to Bowman, but is now back at Waddy (Miles Field) two spaces down from Gary.
Gary Graham first flew his Titan Tornado in the Fall of 2005 but waited for the nice summer weather to get his
hours in. At last report, he has a few more hours of restricted flying to go.
At the last meeting, Don and Joy Jeffries showed photos and announced that their Super Rebel is sitting
on the gear, wings attached. One big bird !! Perhaps by this time the IO-540 will be on the nose. ( They decided against electric power !! )
REPORTS NEEDED!!
Tom Hubbuch - Sonerai II, coverting Corvair engine.
Berry Bannon - Kit Fox Outback, also converting Corvair engine.
Lee Roberts - Sportsman 2 + 2.
E. J. Schickli - Nieuport.
Don Disney - Legal Eagle w/ 1/2 V
Bruce Edsten - Restoration of Vari-Eze for museum. Hatz Biplane project.
Tim O' Connor - Two (!) Boeing P-26s. Don't know what Tim's work schedule is.
We haven't caught him in his hangar at Seymour on our last several visits but a look at his latest web site ( http://www.peashooter.net/ )
postings shows photos of horizontal stabilizer and landing gear components.
Our own projects have consisted of a summer of tinkering but very little flying. Still considering ways of
getting more power out of the little two banger 1/2 VW on my Ultra Sky Scout and working on a PSRU. Meanwhile, the VW on my VP-1
has become cantankerous and I am delving into its innards- so far, magneto overhaul and valves reworked.
