President Gary Graham called the meeting to order at 7:12PM.
All officers were present except Joy, who, we expect, was diligently representing the Chapter at Sun-N-Fun.
Secretary Tom Hubbuch read the minutes from the March. 2007 meeting which were approved.
Treasurer Berry Bannon reported the Fish Dinner cost $311.80, and despite the good attendance, the Chapter lost about $50. He also paid Bruce Edsten $42.45 for the post cards. Income was $525.45 from dues and attendance of the fish dinner, and $10 from EAA Headquarters due to a new member joining. The Chapter has two $500 CDs, $2125.86 in savings, $858.45 in checking, and $30.00 in petty cash. His report was accepted.
Greeting Chairman Don Tucker reported 19 members and one guest in attendance.
Committee Reports:
Young Eagles - Bob Allen reported that he has not started organizing the next Young Eagles Day, but will be active as summer approaches.
Rough River Fly-in - Berry reminded the Secretary that insurance for the event should be arranged for, the sooner the better. He displayed two models acquired for door prizes, and has lined up a Dewalt Drill/Saw kit. He is looking for a guest speaker for the banquet. The fly-in is scheduled for Sept. 7, 8 & 9.
Web Page & E-mail - No Report
Bowman Eagles - Steve Koch said the Club has room for 5-6 additional members and has acquired a second plane, another Citabria.
Newsletter - No Report
Spring Picnic - A suggestion was made to hold the picnic in Seymour on June 3 or 10, and to try to arrange for the Museum to be open and coordinate with Tim O’Connor to visit the Peashooter project. Gary Graham will contact the Museum and Tim O’Connor.
Old Business:
Gary reported that he attended the Oldham County Airport meeting recently held. There were many people, both pro and con. He gave Bill Stout, a member of the Airport Committee, a package from EAA related to new airports. He said the most optimistic schedule showed completion in the Fall of 2011.
Gary and Charlie Gokey attended the Ultralight Seminar held at IUS. There was good attendance and it was a good show, but the prizes were not as elaborate as those at the previous seminars in Lexington. Terry Duerr of Flight Services, Bruce Edsten (FSDO), and Larry Bothe (FAA DPE) spoke, and there were still many questions related to the transition from ultralight to Sport Pilot.
Ford Trimotor- Jim Lasch reported the EAA Trimotor is scheduled to be at the Bowman Terminal Building from Aug. 23 – 27, and the Chapter will be expected to provide at least four people beginning at 8 AM each day to help pre-flight, load passengers and sell tickets. He is looking for any deals that can be arranged for fuel, and for sponsors, who, for each $1500 donated, will receive a seat on a flight. Apparently the Chapter will receive any funds over the initial $2500 in tickets sold.
New Business:
Flight Medicals- John Ebert reported on the realities of having to submit tests and recommendations to the FAA to clear the 3rd class.
Lee Bottom Sinful Sundays- Jim Nolan is looking for volunteers to help with the ice cream Sundays to be held on June 10, July 8 and Aug 12. Also, the fly-in is scheduled for Sept 29 this year.
Tom Hubbuch is traveling to Wick’s Aircraft next weekend and offered to pick up any parts or supplies that members may need.
Steve Koch announced that Eagle Aviation is sponsoring a Poker Run on May 12. There is a $125 entry fee, and the total distance is about 130 miles. Proceed go to the Crusade for Children.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:09 PM.
The program following the meeting was a showing of a promotional video of Clay Lacy, who runs a business of filming aircraft of all types for business, advertising and movies. It is evident that his work is first class.
