CHAPTER 110
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
September 12, 2007

President Gary Graham called the meeting to order at 7:02PM.

All officers were present.

Secretary Tom Hubbuch read the minutes from the August 2007 meeting, which were approved.

Treasurer Berry Bannon reported a treasury of two $500 CDs, $2135.43 in savings, $2043.47 in checking, and $30.00 petty cash. Sponsors Steve Koch and Collins Ford donated a total of $3000.00, plus $230.00 was realized from the raffle tickets. $2500 was required from the Chapter as a surety for the TriMotor, the golf shirts cost $480.68, and $50.00 went to bottled water. There is no word yet on our portion of the ride ticket sales, but a nice pay-off is expected. He said that the Rough River Fly-in essentially broke even, which was surprising due to the poor weather and low turn-out.

Greeting Chairman Don Tucker reported 22 members and two guests in attendance.

Committee Reports:

Young Eagles - Bob Allen is working on a possible YE day in November, and has a growing list of interested kids.

Ford Tri-Motor - Held on 8/24, 25, 26/07. Gary Graham thanked all volunteers for helping make this a very successful and enjoyable event. Howard Edwards moved that the Chapter present a resolution, which thanks Stacey Linn for her participation as the chairperson of the TriMotor visit. The motion was approved and applauded.

Rough River Fly-in - Held on Sept 7,8,9. Berry reported that tough weather held visiting aircraft to five or six on Friday, and about 35 on Saturday. However, the dinner banquet was well attended by about 45 persons. Our Chapter airline trivia expert, Robert Wilmoth put the crowd to a test just prior to dinner, with a slide show and challenging questionnaire to fill out related to airline and military aircraft. It was so tough that we think that he had to grade on a curve just to get a passing grade to name a winner! Ralph Waldrop, a WW2 B-26 bomber pilot made a presentation, telling about his training, the aircraft and some of his experiences. Then, Bob Allen related some humorous stories from his 30 something years as an airline pilot. Just about everyone received a door prize, and the raffle winners were drawn. It was agreed by many that this banquet was one of the best in recent memory. The next Rough River Fly-in is scheduled for Sept. 12, 13, 14, 2008.

Bowman Eagles - Jim Nolen said the club has room for six new members.

Newsletter - No Report

Fall Picnic - The date has been set for Sunday, October 21, 2007, and will be held at Errol Hand’s home and hangar at Willow Island. Eating will start at 1:00 PM. The Chapter will provide the meat, including burgers, dogs and brats, condiments, utensils and soft drinks. Members are asked to bring a side dish to share, and if possible, to bring a folding table and chairs.

Events:

The Scottsburg light plane fly-in is Sat., Sept 15.
The Lee Bottom fly-in is Fri./Sat., Sept 28/29. Jim Nolan is looking for volunteer help.

Old Business:None

New Business:

Gary said that Charles Arrington sent some very nice digital pictures of the TriMotor to him. Charles has written a book, titled “Wings Over the Falls”, which will be available this fall.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:38PM.

A program was prepared and presented by Howard Edwards, who gave a slide show and historical overview of the North American Aviation Company.
