Committee Reports:

Young Eagles - Chairman Jim Lasch announced that the next Y.E. day will be Oct. 8 at the Old Terminal, starting at 9 AM. A combination of JROTC and Boy Scouts are planning to attend, possibly totaling 30 to 50 kids. Ground crew, aircraft and pilots are all needed, and he strongly encouraged all to come help.

Rough River – Held last weekend, Berry reported that it was a good time. Approx. 100 aircraft flew in, which was below expectations, possibly due to hazy weather and the recent high fuel costs. Sixty-six attended the banquet, featuring Rosie the Riveter, enacted by Angela Barkley, a Bowman flight instructor. He reported that the event wound up about $70.00 short of meeting expenses. Planning for next year has begun.

Roster - Tom Hubbuch reported that the updated roster is again late, but it is finalized and printed. It will be included in the next Newsletter mailing in early Oct.

Bowman Eagles – Jim Nolen reported the group active, with 64 members. Two aircraft are flying, but the Champ is undergoing repair.

Picnic – The Fall Drive-in/Fly-in Picnic will be held on Oct. 9 at the Scottsburg, In. airport. Eating will commence at 1 PM, Louisville time.

Events:

Not much interest was shown from the membership in support of the long-planned auto caravan to the WWI Encampment and Dawn Patrol at Wright-Patt., Sept 29 – Oct 2. Another option for those interested is to contact Clark Co. Chapter 1042, which is planning a bus trip; the cost is $25/person. Sept 16-18 – Military Collectables Show at Bullitt County Sept 17 – Scottsburg Ultralight fly-in; Willow Island Fly-in by Errol Hand; SE Fall Fly-in at Lebanon, Tn Sept 24 – Lee Bottom Fly-in Oct 8 – Seymour Aviation Awareness Day

Old Business:

Gary Graham discussed the proposed airport in Shelbyville. Wallace Hardin agreed to write a letter to the Shelbyville Air Board supporting the effort, which Gary will sign and mail. Bill Tatum reported that Lebanon/Springfield had an open house of the new FBO at the field.

New Business:

Gary reported that EAA HQ sent the Chapter a very nice, free leather jacket, with Eagle logo on the back. This is to be a prize in a fund-raising raffle. It was decided that the raffle tickets would be sold for $2/ea, 3 for $5, and 7 for $10. The drawing will be held at the Dec. ’05 meeting. Gary will obtain tickets, and plans to start selling them at the Scottsburg UL Fly-in this weekend. Charlie Gokey reviewed an article in the current Sport Aviation which outlines all the requirements for instrumentation for VFR, IFR and night flying. The membership voted to have a Pizza Meeting on Nov. 9.

Door Prize:

Gary had a door prize, but it did not make it to the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:18 PM.

The program following the meeting was an overview of fuel injection by Don Jeffries, which he plans to install on his Murphy Rebel project. He explained the concept of the air/fuel solenoid, fuel distributor and injectors.
