Committee Reports:
Young Eagles - Bob Allen said the next YE day will be Nov 3, rain date Nov 10. There will be from 25 – 100 kids. All participants will be considered as individuals, and not as part of a group, such as a scout troop, due to insurance complexities.
Ford Tri-Motor - Gary said there has been no update on the Chapter’s payment.
Rough River Fly-in - Held on Sept 7,8,9. Berry reported that tough weather held visiting aircraft to five or six on Friday, and about 35 on Saturday. However, the dinner banquet was well attended by about 45 persons. Our Chapter airline trivia expert, Robert Wilmoth put the crowd to a test just prior to dinner, with a slide show and challenging questionnaire to fill out related to airline and military aircraft. It was so tough that we think that he had to grade on a curve just to get a passing grade to name a winner! Ralph Waldrop, a WW2 B-26 bomber pilot made a presentation, telling about his training, the aircraft and some of his experiences. Then, Bob Allen related some humorous stories from his 30 something years as an airline pilot. Just about everyone received a door prize, and the raffle winners were drawn. It was agreed by many that this banquet was one of the best in recent memory. The next Rough River Fly-in is scheduled for Sept. 12, 13, 14, 2008.
Bowman Eagles - Jim Nolen said the club has room for seven new members.
Fall Picnic - The date has been set for Sunday, October 21, 2007, and will be held at Errol Hand’s home and hangar at Willow Island. Eating will start at 1:00 PM. The Chapter will provide the meat, including burgers, dogs and brats, condiments, utensils and soft drinks. Members are asked to bring a side dish to share, and if possible, to bring a folding table and chairs.
Roster Update - Gary is trying to re-construct what has been sent to him by members. Send him your information if not yet done.
Old Business:None
New Business:
Dave Bingman reported on his experiences of painting his newly acquired Tomahawk by rolling on hardware store enamel. He said it was a lot of work, saved him a lot of money, and described it as better than a 10 foot paint job.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:43PM.
A program was prepared and presented by George Lasley. He described his 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, which included a wide variety of assignments, and showed slides of many of the aircraft that he had flown.
