President Gary Graham called the meeting to order at 7:35PM.
Vice-president Joy Jeffries was present.
Secretary Tom Hubbuch read the minutes from last month, which were accepted as read.
Treasurer Berry Bannon was absent and there was no report.
Greeting Chairman Don Tucker reported 23 members and two guests in attendance.
Committee Reports:
Young Eagles - Gary Graham said the YE day on Oct 8 was the most enjoyable one yet. One young person, Zak Bennet, was most
enthusiastic. Howard Edwards suggested some further encouragement be extended to this Young Eagle. YE Chair Jim Lasch reported
75 flown and plenty of aircraft were present. He also announced he was stepping down after four years, and there is a need for someone
to take it over.
Rough River – A small group of Chapter members has already met to plan for next year.
Web – Gary Graham has pictures from YE day and will get them on the web page soon.
Roster - Tom Hubbuch reported that the updated roster has finally been mailed to current members.
Newsletter – Bruce asked for contributions from members.
Bowman Eagles – Jim Nolen reported the group active, with 63 members, with room for more. The Champ is undergoing repair.
Picnic – The Fall Drive-in/Fly-in Picnic was held on Oct. 9 at the Scottsburg, In. airport. About 20 Chapter members, family and friends
attended, with about a dozen folks from Scottsburg joining us. Unfortunately, due to the extra visitors, we ran a little short on side dishes,
but there was plenty of desert.
Events:
Dawn Patrol – Gary Graham was the only Chapter member to attend the Wright-Patt event, and he reported that
it was a nice day. He will bring pictures to a future meeting.
Pizza Meeting – The Nov. meeting will be a pizza meeting, with dinner starting about 6:30 pm. From a show of hands, it appears that
about 22 members and guests are planning to attend.
Old Business:
Shelby County Airport – The plans are apparently shot down due to efforts of some influential land and
horse owners.
Builder Progress – Bob Carlson built a Zodiac 601, got it signed off, and has quickly completed flying the 40 hours.
Leather Jacket – Gary Graham reported selling about $99.00 worth of chances at the Ultralight meet and the YE day.
New Business:
Gary Graham received an annual report from Headquarters which listed many donors of large amounts. He said no one from the Chapter
was included in the million dollar list.
Door Prize:
Dave Bingman won a screw driver set, and Dave Hunt won a masonry cutting circular saw blade.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:09 PM.
The program following the meeting was a presentation by Louis Patton of his FA/18 Hornet radio controlled jet. The engine burns Jet A
and produces about 50 lbs. of thrust, and the jet can do around 300 mph. Louis stays busy competing in meets, and has placed 2nd in
the world in the past.
